New Course "Building Information Modelling (BIM) according to ISO 19650"

Everyone is talking about Building Information Modeling (BIM). Mostly the term refers to a tool for 3-dimensional planning of buildings or other structures. This also corresponds to the public perception. But BIM is much more.

BIM is primarily intended to enable efficient management of information over the entire life cycle, thereby contributing to increased efficiency and productivity in the construction industry. This management oriented approach is documented in the British BIM standard BS 1192 since 2007 and in the international standard ISO 19650 since 2018.

In the ISO standard, BIM is also considered an important element of asset management and has emerged from the associated standard ISO 55000. For a successful implementation of BIM, therefore, the principles and rules applicable to asset management should always be applied.

Contrary to common opinion, there are no high technical and economic barriers to successfully implementing and operating Building Information Modeling from the point of view of ISO Standard 19650.

In this context, HELLER Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH, together with the Infrastructure Asset Management Academy (INFRAMA), has developed a comprehensive training concept for a practice-oriented implementation of BIM. The primary focus lies here on information management in the field of infrastructures.

Currently, HELLER and INFRAMA offer various training courses and workshops especially for road authorities. HELLER always focuses on nationally and internationally recognized standards and the application of well-established norms. In addition, the training concept has recently been certified by TÜV Hessen. Participants receive a widely acknowledged certificate for their participation in workshops and a management course. The experience gathered so far shows that the practice-oriented approach covers the existing professional needs very well and enjoys a high level of acceptance among the course participants.
