INFRAMA trains the Silesian Road Administration for BIM according to ISO 19650:2018

The Silesian Voivodship Roads Administration in Katowice (ZDW Katowice) is a leader in Poland in the application of modern management procedures. Since 2005 the pavement condition has been regularly implemented in accordance with the German guidelines ZTV-ZEB-StB.

Moreover, the bearing capacity of the roads is regularly recorded using current methods (Traffic Speed Deflectometer - TSD or Falling Weight Deflectometer - FWD) and taken into account in maintenance planning. In addition to the systematic collection of technical information, which is of great importance for decision-making, management has also been further developed for many years. The management relies on pragmatic procedures. The aim is always to identify, prioritize and optimally meet the requirements and needs of the relevant stakeholders. Thanks to consistent continuing education and training of decision-makers in the administration, a very high level of awareness of the requirement for a systematic management approach has been achieved. Courses and trainings on various specialist topics take place regularly. In recent months, full-day in-house courses and workshops have been held on the topics: Road Asset Management and Risk Management, which have been organized separately for members of management, technicians and other administrative staff. The trainings were conducted within the framework of the INFRAMA - Education Initiative and led by Dr. Slawomir Heller and Dr. Agata Ciołkosz-Styk from HELLER Consult (in Warsaw).

To further advance the subject, a first basic course on BIM according to ISO 19650:2018 was organized on 12 March 2020 at the seat of the administration in Katowice. The course was designed and conducted by the INFRAMA Academy under the supervision of Dr Slawomir Heller. The training program was previously certified by TÜV Hessen.

Among the 20 participants were all members of the management, as well as the department and project managers. They intend to apply the new management approach in practice. All participants received a certificate from TÜV-Hessen for their successful participation.

The training received very positive feedback from the participants. As the Silesian administration of the regional roads has already gained experience in the application of modern management principles for a long time, they expressed their satisfaction that there is now also a practical component for information management and would like to use this as an important part of asset management.
