3rd exchange of experience: Maintenance planning of cycle paths

On the 12th of April 2011, the third exchange of experience of the HELLER Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH took place. The focus of this year’s event was on the maintenance planning for cycle paths. The construction of new cycle paths has experienced a proper boom in the last ten years thanks to extensive subsidies. This means that the administrators are required to carry out maintenance measures which mostly not have been considered. Furthermore, there are still no guidelines and regulations for the goal-oriented determination and assessment of the maintenance measures that have been required for a long time.

In 2010, HELLER has broken new ground and established standards for the condition survey and assessment (ZEB) on cycle paths. Based on their nationwide standards in road maintenance management, the company developed a new concept for the systematic evaluation and an IT-based system for the maintenance of cycle path networks. The project results, as well as comparable projects, were presented to the public on the third exchange of experience.

The event provided a great opportunity for the experts to exchange their project experiences and to establish common priorities for the further standardization of procedures.

HELLER would like to thank everyone for their participation and the great contributions to this topic.
