City of Kaiserslautern gets road network evaluated

The condition of the main and secondary roads in the city of Kaiserslautern was surveyed by TÜV Rheinland Schniering GmbH in July 2018. The technology used was presented at a media event on the 24th of August.

HELLER Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH has developed the concept for the survey and has been commissioned with the further evaluation and assessment of the data. This includes preparing an expert opinion on the state of maintenance and determining or prioritizing the necessary maintenance measures. The measuring vehicle shown in the picture was used for the condition survey and assessment (ZEB) of the main roads. It provides precise and repeatable information on the condition of the road surface. This allows valid statements on the development of the situation and a comparison with other municipalities that use the standard procedure. The ZEB standard was developed in the 1990s by the Federal Ministry of Transport for the evaluation of federal highways. In the meantime, it has been successfully used by many local road authorities.
