HELLER continues to invest in the pavement condition assessment of cycle path infrastructure in 2024

Since 2010, HELLER has been a leader in the metrological condition survey and assessment (ZEB) of cycle paths in Germany. In total, the condition of over 75,000 km has been assessed. In addition to roadside cycle paths, tourist cycle path networks are also increasingly being recorded and assessed.

Management system for cycle paths: OnKo3

This year saw the completion of an ambitious project for the Federal Highway Research Institute, in which the inventory of all cycle paths along German federal highways was checked and compiled for transfer to the BISSTra system. In addition, numerous projects were completed for the federal states and districts with a total length of around 6,000 km. A new network model and special display formats and modules for the OnKo3 asset management system were developed for the digital storage and use of cycle path data. These include an app for recording damage, danger spots and signposting and an intuitive web-based tool for editing the network model and traffic areas, including construction data. The new tools are suitable for the management of both municipal and supra-regional cycle path networks. The process chain for data processing and visualization harmonizes with all known recording procedures and methods. In response to the constantly growing demand, the team of experts was expanded in 2024. For us, the expansion and maintenance of cycle path infrastructure is a matter close to our hearts and an important step towards reducing CO2 emissions.
