Practical course on pavement condition assessment is very popular with students

HELLER teaches students of the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences and realizes a pavement condition assessment of selected roads in Frankfurt am Main.

The project, originally initiated by Prof. Joachim Pös from Frankfurt University, Dr. Slawomir Heller together with the City of Frankfurt, was realized in December 2019. The aim was to give students a practical insight into road maintenance management and to develop a suitable method for visual pavement condition monitoring. The training concept developed and implemented by Magda Dziubałtowska, which included a theoretical and a practical part, was very well received by the students. As a basis for the visual assessment, the students first took pictures of the road space. These were then evaluated with the OnKo3 system and the results were analysed together. At a joint final event in the Office for Road Construction and Development on 14.01.2020, it was agreed that the developed procedure has great potential.

HELLER draws a very positive balance and will continue to participate in the training of young engineers in the future. Many thanks go to the Office for Road Construction and Development of the City of Frankfurt am Main, which has actively supported the project.
