Representatives of the HELLER group teach "Road Asset Management" at the Rzeszów University of Technology

In the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Architecture of the Rzeszów University of Technology a special lecture is on Road Information Systems, which was launched once again in the summer semester 2016/2017. This time the whole topic is presented in the frame of dynamically developing discipline of Road Asset Management. The classes are conducted by representatives of the Heller Group - Heller Consult and Heller Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH, as well as representatives of the Department of Roads and Bridges of the Rzeszów University of Technology.

On behalf of Heller Consult, Tomasz Wojsz, CEO of the Heller Consult Board, presented the topics on the base of Road Information Systems and Roadside Reference Systems on February 27th. Dr. Agata Ciolkosz-Styk, Research and Development Manager at Heller Consult, discussed Road Asset Management, risk management and key performance indicators with the students during a lecture on March 20th. „The collaboration with universities and research institutes is one of the key elements of our company's strategy“, Tomasz Wojsz is explaining. „This allows us to continually upgrade our products and introduce new, innovative solutions.“

The Heller Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH will be represented by Dr Slawomir Heller, owner of the company and the German delegate to the World Road Network - PIARC and Magda Dziubaltowska, project engineer at Heller in Darmstadt. The company already implemented numerous projects in the field of Road Asset Management. Magda Dziubaltowska will have an interactive workshop with the students about visualization tools on April 24th. Dr. Heller, who is also Chairman of the dissemination and education Working Group on Asset Management PIARC dissemination and education, will teach the students on June 5th detailed knowledge about Asset Management. He will show them the current trends and perspectives of Road Asset Management as well as strategies and the importance of this topic for the infrastructure. Further to this he is identifying the role of PIARC in disseminating Road Asset Management.

During the lectures, reference systems, methods for identifying, processing, visualization and sharing road data, road management issues, as well as adequate legal issues are in active discussion. One of the main part are exercises based on examples taken from real projects. This shows as well the use and significance of database processing tools and specialized mapping software, linear profiles and pavement condition assessment, developed from Heller Consult. „The lectures, exercises and workshops cover the whole range of issues in modern road network management“, Dr. Agata Ciolkosz-Styk says. „The students benefit from the very interactive workshops as they are able to deepen their knowledge on the presented topics in the practice.“ During the already conducted lectures the students were highly interested in all topics and expressed themselves very positively afterwards. They are looking forward to the next workshops.
