Road Asset Management and OnKo in Portugal

Infraestruturas de Portugal is responsible for the management, maintenance and operation of the public road and rail network in Portugal. The company has been using the online information system OnKo developed by HELLER Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH since 2015 to visualize the condition and maintenance data of the Portuguese national roads. In order to maintain the road infrastructure of approximately 17,000 kilometers, Road Asset Management is becoming a focus of the Portuguese road administration.

"Ponte 25 de Abril" is the third largest suspension bridge in Europe and under supervision of Infraestruturas de Portugal. The company relies since 2015 on OnKo in the maintenance management of the Portuguese federal roads.

For a presentation on Road Asset Management, CEO Christian Komma and Marek Skakuj, authorised officer and consultant at HELLER, visited the headquarters of Infraestruturas de Portugal in Lisbon on March 6th 2018 and introduced 40 invited employees to the topic. The provision of up-to-date infrastructure data is particularly important for Infraestruturas de Portugal. In order to fulfil this important task as part of the Road Asset Management, the Portuguese road administration continues to rely on OnKo and plans to upgrade to the new version OnKo3 by the end of the year.
