Dr. Slawomir Heller presents maintenance management of the Federal State Baden-Württemberg at the „Arbeitsgruppentagung Infrastrukturmanagement“ in Duisburg

Dr. Slawomir Heller presented a dissertation about the maintenance management of the countryside and federal highways in Baden-Württemberg, which was prepared together with MR Marcel Zembrot from the Ministry of Traffic of the Federal State.
To establish a systematical maintenance management it is neccessary to have a closer look to the transparency of the technical procedures as well as embedding them into all relevant business processes. Baden-Württemberg make use of a two-stage process in the maintenance management since 2012, which was drafted together with HELLER Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH. At first the Ministry of Traffic is responsible to identify and report the areas in the country with an urgent need for maintenance with the help of the Road Monitoring and Assessment (ZEB). In the next step the Regional Commissions use these information to adopt them into maintenance plannings as well as precise programms. This standardized procedure is highly accepted as it delivers essential and conditioned information to the decision makers and executive untis in the maintenance planning. Baden-Württemberg takes it´s chance for transparency and provides demand plannings and documentation in the internet for the population as well as the politics. The discussions during the breaks has shown, that this procedure, which is not only in use in Baden-Württemberg, is highly appreciated and will be implemented in other States as well.
Thanks to the organizers and moderators of this event! The high-class experts and the interesting contributions has shown once again the importance of a funded management in the maintenance of the road infrastructure.
