HELLER presents innovative solutions at the NWSIB Days 2025

Digital vehicle data as a new opportunity for municipal pavement management
Henning Balck (HELLER) presented the results of the study “Validation of the application potential of cloud-based vehicle data for continuous pavement condition monitoring.”
In particular, the possibility of utilising vehicle data from Volkswagen was highlighted by participants as a forward-looking and highly promising development. For the first time, municipalities and other road authorities gain access to a new, widely available data source for their pavement management. At the same time, these data provide robust indicators that can support political decision-makers in objectively assessing the usability and performance of the road network.
GST routing as a digital accelerator for permit procedures
Kerstin Reifschläger, together with Rainer Koch (Rosenthaler + Partner AG, https://www.rpag.ch/de/), presented the topic “From fax to digital co-driver – challenges of digitalisation using the example of GST routing.”
The presentation clearly demonstrated how digital routing and permit workflows can significantly simplify today’s highly complex coordination and approval processes for oversized and heavy transports. Such digitalisation would make procedures considerably more efficient, transparent, and faster – an important step forward for both public administration and industry.
The strong interest in both presentations underlines how essential modern data sources, digital processes, and intelligent IT solutions are for the future of road infrastructure.
HELLER would like to thank the organisers and all participants for the open exchange and the many constructive contributions. We look forward to incorporating the valuable insights into our ongoing projects and product development.
HELLER and NIRA Dynamics together in the exhibition area
In addition to the presentations, HELLER and NIRA Dynamics (https://www.niradynamics.com) – Volkswagen’s partner and data provider for floating-car information, represented by Steffen Knab – jointly hosted an exhibition stand. The two companies showcased the latest management systems, innovative evaluation methods, and concrete application examples from real-world infrastructure management. The discussions clearly reflected the growing demand for reliable digital solutions to support modern, data-driven road asset management.
