Henning Balck presents significance and principles of Road Asset Management at the „Aachener Straßenbau- und Verkehrstagen“ (ASVT)

With more than one hundred participants from all areas of administration, research and private economy the so called „Verkehrstage“, which are organized by the research association SETAC e. V. on a yearly base, are one of the most important events with regards to road engineering.

Henning Balck presented the interested audience in the block „sustainment management“, which was moderated by Dr. Christoph Dröge (Manager Unit Construction at Straßen.NRW), the significance and principles of Road Asset Management.

The new concept and methods from the Asset Management are currently not used very often in the daily practice. Anyhow, the interested audience showed a very positive echo, which is the proof to publicize the Asset Management to a wider range of specialists.

The Asset Management is a young discipline. But it is important for engineers as they are taking the responsibilities for construction, operation and sustainment of the streets and with this for 40 % of the national wealth. The signs in the politics are clear. In times of financial crisis and weak rates the infrustructure is the main part for international investments. Beside this, the privatization is in progress.

Therefore, the enginieers are called to find and develop new concepts for Asset Management as well as to implement the new management system. In Germany it is very important to lay the groundwork to keep up with the international developments. With the standard guidelines ISO 55.000 and PAS 55 a good base is given. The implementation is as easy as the quality management with ISO 9001 and it is possible to adjust it to the demand of each organization.

HELLER is transferring the general principles of Asset Management into the the road engineering already since 2015 and is offering tailormade service packages from consulting, to auditing and certification. We are looking forward to give you some more information on thi. Feel free to contact us!
