Innovative technologies for the measurement of load capacity at network level

On April 4th and 5th 2014, 60 top representatives of the federal government, the Federal Highway Research Institute, the road authorities of the federal states as well as representatives from districts and large municipalities met in Darmstadt for a conference on innovative technologies for the measurement of load capacity at the network level.

Numerous participants from abroad, as well as professors and scientists from major German universities were also present.

The aim of the conference was to provide a comprehensive overview of the current status of high-speed and network-wide measurements of load capacity and the existing applications. Renowned experts from various disciplines and nations illustrated the importance of sustainability in maintenance management, the existing measurement methods - especially the high-speed traffic speed deflectometer (TSD) - as well as the integration of the results into maintenance management using practical examples from different areas.

The participants drew a positive conclusion and already noticed numerous areas of application. In the short term, it is a matter of validating the procedures at the network level and creating suitable evaluation modules for maintenance management. A corresponding test specification is already in progress at the FGSV. We would like to thank all speakers! The event would not have been possible without the excellent contributions.
